Georgia Matthews Elementary and Jennie Wilson Elementary Going To Remote Learning on Thursday
USD 457
Georgia Matthews Elementary School and Jennie Wilson Elementary School will be closed to on-site classes and move to Level 6 Remote Learning, from the district’s operational plan, starting on Thursday, November 12th. The decision was made due to several positive COVID-19 cases within the two schools and the temporary lack of available staff necessary to operate classrooms safely and effectively at the two schools.
The move to Level 6 Remote Learning at the two schools was done out of an abundance of caution, it was decided by the district to close the two elementary schools through November 30, 2020, pending no further positive COVID-19 cases and district operational levels. The district will have a facilities crew deep clean and disinfect the two schools while the closure is in effect.
Parents with students in classes of a case were notified by Garden City Public Schools. The Finney County Health Department will follow up with phone calls to the parents of those that need to quarantine due to exposure to COVID-19.
The top priority of Garden City Public Schools is the safety and health of students, staff and the community. The district asks families to continue to be vigilant and help decrease the spread of COVID-19 by wearing a face mask, washing hands, social distance by at least six feet or more when in public places and stay home if you are not feeling well.
