Geoff Marlow Drives in Six to Split Garden City’s Series Over Colby CC
GARDEN CITY, KAN (WesternKansasNews.Com) – Geoff Marlow showed timely hitting on Thursday, driving in six on two hits to lead the Broncbusters past Colby 15-4 on Thursday. Marlow drove in runs on a single in the third, a home run in the fourth, and a groundout in the fifth.
Colby got things started in the first inning. Jake Ticer’s sac fly scored one run for the Trojans.
Garden City knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning. The Broncbusters scored one run when Connor Camden singled.
Garden City would then pull away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Marlow singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs, an error scored one run for Garden City, and a sacrifice bunt by Ryan Muniz scored one run for the Broncbusters.
Garden City scored six runs in the fourth inning. The Broncbusters offense in the inning came from a single by Dylan Garcia, a home run by Marlow, and a double by Konner Hatfield.
Guillermo Gelpi earned the victory on the hill for Garden City. Gelpi went seven innings, allowing four runs on ten hits, striking out five and walking zero.
Travis Onisto took the loss for Colby CC. The hurler surrendered ten runs on seven hits over three and a third innings, striking out five.
Garden City launched two home runs on the day. Quinn Gundelfinger had a dinger in the fifth inning. Marlow had a long ball in the fourth inning.
The Broncbusters had 13 hits in the game. Will Gardner, Camden, and Marlow each racked up multiple hits for Garden City. Camden and Gardner all had three hits to lead the team.
Garden City was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Marlow had the most chances in the field with five.
Colby CC tallied ten hits in the game. AJ Cortese and Brayden Cust all had multiple hits for the Trojans. Cortese led Colby CC with three hits in three at bats.
