GCPD News Release: Auto Burglary

On November 16, 2019, at approximately 1:00 A.M., Officers were dispatched to the area
of 606 Long Street in reference to an auto burglary in-progress. The reporting party
described the person to GCPD Communications.

Upon arrival, officers located a man matching the description. The man, later identified as
Kemel Hassan Mohamed (19), Wichita, KS, had items on his person matching the
description of the items reported to have been taken from the vehicles. There were 12
vehicles broken into and one damaged as a result of the break-in. All of the vehicles were
unlocked. Mohamed was arrested and lodged at the Finney County Jail, and an affidavit
was filed with the Finney County Attorney’s office requesting charges of auto burglary,
criminal damage, and interference with a law enforcement officer.

The presumption of innocence shall continue until such time that the person(s) accused
may be found guilty by a court of law.*
