GCPD News Release – Aggravated Kidnapping

Garden City Police Department

On February 2nd, at around 10:00 PM, Officers of the Garden City Police Department were
dispatched to the East side of Garden City, in reference to an aggravated assault in
progress. GCPD Communications told the officers, the woman who called, said the man
was trying to kill her and had a shotgun pointed at her face.

Upon arrival, Officers quickly apprehended the man., Keith Hicks (08/31/1995), Garden
City, KS, on the front steps of his residence.

Investigation revealed the man and woman were known to each other and in a dating
relationship when an argument ensued over a sports game. When the opposing team won,
Hicks became angry and allegedly battered the woman and pointed a gun in her face
stating he was going to kill her.

Hicks was lodged at the Finney County Jail, and an affidavit was filed with the Finney
County Attorney’s office requesting charges of Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated
Assault, Criminal Threat, and Endangering a Child.

*The person(s) involved has not yet been convicted of a crime, and are presumed innocent. The presumption of innocence shall continue until such time that the person(s) accused may be found guilty by a court of law.*
