GCPD Media Release – Structure Fire

On September 25, 2020, at around 4:45 P.M., Officers of the Garden City Police Department, Garden City Fire Department, and Finney County EMS were dispatched to 1305 W Fulton Street for a structure fire.

Officers saw the residence engulfed in flames when they arrived. The intersection at 1200 W Fulton and 1400 W Fulton was closed for approximately two hours while Garden City Firefighters fully extinguished the fire and conducted their investigation. Officers were notified that the fire started in the living room, and the residence was unoccupied.

Officers learned that a neighbor was inside his residence when he heard a loud explosion and went outside to see what had occurred. The neighbor said he observed the home fully engulfed in flames.

The house sustained extensive damage to the interior of the residence. The estimated damage caused by the fire is approximately $47,000. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
