Kidnapping Press Release – GCPD

On January 26th at around 6:30 P.M., Officers of the Garden City Police Department were dispatched to 2424 N Taylor, Walmart Neighborhood Market, in reference to a battery-in- progress between a man and a woman in the parking lot of the business. A nearby witness told officers; the man was attempting to strangle the woman inside of a car as she tried to get away from the man.

Investigation revealed, Kenneth Burton, Lakin, KS, got into an argument with the woman
inside of the store. The argument escalated as the two exited the store and got into a
vehicle in the parking lot. The woman attempted to leave when Kenneth strangled her and
sped away with her in the vehicle.

Kenneth Burton and the woman were later located, and Burton was arrested and lodged in
the Finney County Jail. An affidavit was filed with the Finney County Attorney’s Office
requesting the charges of Aggravated Battery (DV) and Aggravated Kidnapping.
