Garden City Police has identified subject in school threat

GARDEN CITY, Kan. — The Garden City Police Department has identified a 14-year old student at Horace Good Middle School as an individual who made possible threats against the school.

According to a release from the GCPD, they were notified by a concerned student and parent on Wednesday evening after 8 p.m. regarding a threat that was received by a student on social media. GCPD said the individual made a general threat with the intent to use firearms to hurt individuals at Horace Good Middle School.

A letter was sent out to parents from USD 457 acknowledging them about the threat.

The GCPD had numerous vehicles around the school on Thursday morning and were able to locate the suspect around 10 a.m. without incident.

According to the release, an affidavit has been filed with the Finney County Attorney’s Office requesting charges of Aggravated Criminal Threat and Criminal False Communication.
