GCPD getting body cameras
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City Police Department will purchase body and car camera’s for it’s officers. According to the GC telegram The Garden City commissioners approved the purchase with Motorola for just under $447,000. The purchase is a five year agreement that includes 64 body cameras, 26 in car cameras with front and rear cameras and six in car cameras with dual view.
The decision comes after 29 year old Cristino Umana-Garcia was fatally shot in early October that involved a GCPD officer and a Finney County Sheriff’s officer. Umana-Garcia was described as armed with a knife and hostile when he allegedly charged officers. The KBI is still investigating.
