GCHS Track Teams Place First and Second in Buffalo Invitational-Audio
Garden City, KS (www.westernkansasnews.com) – On a warm windy day at Buffalo Stadium in Garden City and a great crowd on hand for the Garden City High School Invitational Track and Field Meet, the Lady Buffs took top honors and the Buffalo boys finished 2nd. The teams competing at the 2013 Buffalo Invite included: Garden City, Dodge City, Holcomb, Scott City, Larned, Liberal, Colby and Ulysses. It was the Lady Buffs coming from behind throughout the day and evening to surpass Dodge City for the 2013 title scoring 146 points, Dodge City 2nd with 109 from great field events performances , Liberal 3rd and Scott City 4th. The Lady Buffs collected gold from Alex Miller in the 1600 and 3200 distance events, Taylor Linenberger in the Pole Vault, Taryn Tempel in the Triple Jump, Kayla Doll in the open 800(new personal record 2:20.38), plus the 4×800 Relay team of Neysa Harman, Alex Miller, Katy Doll and Kayla Doll blew away the field with a time of 10:01.32.
On the boys side, it was the Liberal Redskins with some stellar performances producing 189 points to take the team title, Garden City was 2nd with 125, Dodge City was 3rd. The Buffalo boys produced gold in 5 events, including Jonathon Duvall in the 110 meter high hurdles(new personal record 14:29), Tristan Nanninga in the high jump, Aaron Vasquez in the pole vault, Greyson Tempel in 100 meter dash, plus the 4×100 meter relay team of Dustin and Greyson Tempel, Jonathon Duvall and Aaron Vasquez with a current state runner-up best time of 42.88.
