GCHS To Present The Musical “Newsies”

Garden City High School drama department will present the musical “Newsies”, November 15th and 16th at 7:00 p.m. There will be a matinee on November 17th at 2:30 p.m. The performances will be held in the auditorium on the Garden City High School campus, 2720 Buffalo Way Blvd. This hit Disney musical is for the whole family to enjoy.
Ticket prices are $10 for adults and $5 for students at the door. Tickets may be purchased at www.gchsdrama.booktix.com, or from a cast or crew member by November 13th. The box office opens an hour prior to the production for the purchase of tickets at the door. Cash, checks, and credit/debit cards are accepted.
Based on the 1992 movie, “Newsies” depicts the newsboy strike in 1899 where young people in New York took on Joseph Pulitzer, one of the most powerful men in New York City. This musical will feature current students, elementary and middle school students, alumni, and adult actors.
This musical will be adjudicated for the Music Theatre of Wichita’s Jester Awards. The school has had a number of its musicals judged and has won a number of awards and recognitions for its productions.
