GCHS Softball Sweeps Colby on Senior Day

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Despite the poor weather conditions early on the Lady Buffaloes picked up a double header sweep of Colby to close out the regular season.

Garden City won both games 15-0 in three innings. On her senior night Abbie Dart pitched both games striking out seven in each game and only allowing one hit through both games. Dart also helped her cause offensively with three RBI’s in the two games.

Alyssa Long and Kaci Finch had productive senior night’s as well each driving in three runs over the two games.  Also starring for the Lady Buffaloes in game one was Erykah Foster, who went three for three in four RBI’s. In the second game Ryleigh Whitehurst stepped up driving in three runs, including the two to end the game.

The two wins improve Garden City to 15-5 on the season and at least a top three seed in the regional playoffs. The standings could end with Wichita Southeast and Wichita Northwest, in which case a coin toss will break the tie. The standings will be announced Saturday.
