GCHS Softball Adavances to State
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City softball team is heading back to the state tournament for the second year in a row after winning regionals yesterday.
The Lady Buffs beat both Wichita East and Hutchinson 15-0 in three innings. Hailey Dart got the win in the first game giving up just two hits and striking out three. In the second game Abbie Dart continued her dominance, giving up just one hit and striking out five.
Abbie Dart also led the way offensively for the Lady Buffs (17-5) hitting a two-run homer in Wichita East game and then going three for three with a single, double, triple and three RBI’s in the championship game against Hutchinson (6-16). Hutchinson upset Dodge City (12-9) in the first game 9-5 to advance to the championship game.
Also contributing offensively for the Lady Buffs was Ryleigh Whitehurst who had four RBI’s over the two games and Kaci Finch, Taylor Terpstra and Morgan Cabral each drove in three runs.
The Lady Buffs will play May 25 at the 6A State Tournament in Lawrence, the start time and opponent will be posted Sunday on the KSHSAA website.
