GCHS soccer blitzes El Dorado

Goddard, KS-Three years ago, El Dorado started a soccer program. On Tuesday, Sept. 5, Garden City welcomed them to the Goddard Invite with a dominating offensive display.

Jesus Macias scored two goals apiece as the Buffaloes won their opening-round game at the Goddard Invitational 10-0.

“We played well, but we still have a lot of improvement if we want to reach our full potential,” Bustos said. “There are things that we need to fix.”

The stat sheet meantime told another story. Garden City out shot El Dorado 22-0 and scored five goals in the first 11 minutes of the match. They led 9-0 at halftime.

Brian Carrera scored the game’s first goal-assisted by Bustos in the second minute. Bustos added his own goal 60 seconds later before Jesus Garcia made it 4-0 in the sixth minute. Carerra added his second goal in the 11th minute, and the route was officially on.

Garden City will play Buhler in the semifinals on Thursday at 7 p.m.
