GCCC Extends President Swender’s Contract

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City Community College Board of Trustees met for a regular session meeting on Tuesday night.

During the meeting the board approved a motion to add another year to President, Dr. Herbert J. Swender’s three-year rolling contract. The board’s approval of the extra year now extends Swender’s contract through June 30, 2020.

Swender will also receive a raise beginning July 1. The raise will be the same percentage given to faculty and staff in the event that a raise is approved.

The board also approved roofing repairs to the SAFL Library that was damager during a winter storm last year. Repairs were also approved for the Dennis Perryman Athletic Complex roof due to leaks. The portion of the roof above the lobby will be replaced. Administration will enter into an agreement with DV Douglass for $177, 229.00 paid for with capital outlay and insurance proceeds of $41,971.00.
