GCCC Broncbuster Women Return to the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper Wyoming
For the 2nd consecutive year the Garden City Community College women’s Rodeo team has qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo at Casper Wyoming June 10-16, with 2nd place in the region wrapped up in the Central Plains standings. Led by sophomore Emily Miller from Ingalls, Kansas who finished the regular sesason with the women’s All-Around Championship honors for Region and won the barrel racing championship as well, Coach Jim Boy Hash says, “Emily has had an extremely impressive year”. Miller will be joined by teammates Mercedes Trenary from Salida, Colorado and Shelby Leonhard from Oskaloosa, Kansas at the College National Finals. The Garden City men wrapped up the season finishing 13th in the region and no individuals qualified for the finals at Casper. In their final regular season rodeo of year last weekend at Panhandle State University in Guymon, Oklahoma, the Lady Busters finished 4th and the men placed 10th. Emily Miller’s horse Doyle was chosen horse of the year by the region and the 2012 GCCC Intercollegiate Rodeo was also named the Rodeo year, that the Busters hosted March 2-4, at the 4-h Horse Palace indoor arena at the Finney Fairgrounds in Garden City.
