GARDEN CITY, Kan. — The Garden City Community College Board of Trustees met for a special session on Wednesday evening in the Endowment Room inside of the Beth Tedrow Student Center.

The meeting was simply to just review the final report on the school’s former president, Herbert Swender after several employees accused him of several allegations. It’s been eight months since the senate passed a 28-page report to the board that Swender had been accused of bullying, intimidation, sexual harassment and retaliation against the GCCC employees. Swender was relieved of his duties in August of 2018.

Kansas City attorney Greg Goheen has been interviewing those that made claims against Swender. Goheen has been interviewing those individuals for the past six months. Goheen released the report to the board members on Wednesday evening. That statement will be taken to the senate and will be discussed at their next meeting to figure out the steps needed to be taken moving forward.

The full report will be made public at some point today on the GCCC website.
