Liberal, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The offense was good and the defense was even better as both Garden City Community College Basketball teams won their opening games in the Pizza Hut Classic from the “Green House” at Seward County Community College in Liberal.

Game Highlights

For the men they took an early 11-0 lead through the first four minutes and kept the lead in double digits though most of the remainder of the game in cruising to a 74-56 win over Sunrise Christian Academy of Wichita.

The outside shot was working well as part of the Broncbusters offensive attack.  The team went 13/25 from beyond the arc for 52 percent, Jabar Ray went 4 of 7 from long distance while Jamar Gilbert hit 3 of 5 shots from outside.  Both Gilbert and Ray led the Broncbusters in scoring with 16 points each, Aaron Ray yanked down seven rebounds in the win.
