GCCC baseball sweeps Cloud in conference opener
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City Community College baseball team swept a double header from Cloud County Thursday afternoon to open KJCCC play. The Broncbusters took game one in in 8 innings 8-7 and won game two 6-4.
Game One
GCCC fell behind 4-0 in the top of the third inning, then responded with 4 runs of their own in the bottom half. The Broncbusters built a 7-4 lead going into the seventh inning, Cloud(5-7, 0-2) responded in the seventh with three runs to force extra innings. In the bottom of the 8th Corbin Truslow hit an RBI walk off single for to win the game.
On the mound Austin Stone pitched 6+ innings before surrendering the lead in the seventh. Paxon Robinson came on in the 8th and got the win for GCCC. At the plate Clint Allen led the way for the Broncbusters going 4-5 with 4 1B’s and two runs, they had six different players drive in runs. Erik Sabrowski led Cloud going 1-2 with 2 RBI and Tauren Langley 0-3 with 2 RBI.
Game Two
GCCC(14-6, 2-0) fell behind 3-1 in the top of the 5th before responding in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single from Clint Allen and an RBI fielders choice from Robbie Young to tie the game at 3. In the 6th Matt Bondarchuk had an RBI sac fly to put Cloud back in front 4-3. In the bottom of the 6th ReJean Bourjet put the Broncbusters back in front with a 2 RBI single, followed by an RBI single from Griffin Brunson to make it 6-4.
Robbie Young led the way going 1-2 with 2 RBI’s. ReJean Bourget went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and Clint Allen was 2-3 with 2B, 1B, RBI and run. For Erik Sabrowski went 1-2 with 2 RBI.
The Broncbusters will now travel to Cloud for a double header on Saturday. Hear the games on ESPN 99.9 and westernkansasnews.com beginning at 1:45 p.m.
