GCCC Athletic Department Re-structured

Garden City – Garden City Community College President Dr. Herbert Swender announced some changes to the Broncbuster Athletic Program by appointing Ryan Ruda Vice President for Student Services and Athletics. Ryan Ruda currently serves as Vice President of Student Services and will assume the duties of Athletic Director effective Monday, February 11, 2013.

Dennis Harp who was serving as the AD will move to Director of Athletic Advancement serving the college in athletic fundraising and friend raising. Harp has an extensive background in this area as he served in a similar role for 10 years at Hardin-Simmons University. He spent a year at University of Texas-Arlington in this capacity prior to coming to Garden City.

Colin Lamb will transition to the duties of Assistant Vice President for Student Services/Assistant Athletic Director. Colin currently serves as the Director of Counseling and Advising and has worked extensively with athletic enrollment and transfer of student athletes.

Dan Delgado will serve as Sports Information Director/Promotions. Dan will leave his coaching position and focus full-time on sports information and game promotions. Garden City Community College will begin the search for a Head Cross Country and Track and Field Coach soon.

Jacob Ripple will remain as Assistant Athletic Director for Student Success. He will also take on the responsibilities of instructional director for Health, Physical Education, and Recreation.
“The changes should provide GCCC with a human resource talent pool that will complement our goal to pursue quality and excellence as we grow,” stated Herbert J. Swender, President.
