Garden City woman dies in three-vehicle accident
Finney County, Kan.–(westernkansasnews.com)–A Garden City woman died in a three-vehicle accident just after 2 pm Friday on U.S. Highway 83 at the intersection of U.S. Highway 83 and Parallel Road.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol report, A 2019 Ford F550 driven by 23-year-old Cesar Pena of Lakin, and a 2014 Chevy Equinox driven by 43-year-old Elizabeth L. Gossman of Garden City, were southbound on U.S. Highway 83.
Gossman had slowed to turn left on Parallel Road, when she was rear-ended by the Pena vehicle, and the impact pushed her in to the northbound lane of travel. She was struck on the drivers side by a northbound 2014 Ford F150 driven by 58-year-old Jon R. Ungles of Satanta.
Gossman was pronounced dead at the scene. Pena, Ungles, a 14-year-old passenger in the Gossman vehicle and 52-year-old Catrina Ungles of Satanta, were transported to St. Catherines Hospital for their injuries.
The KHP report stated that all who were in the accident were wearing seatbelts.
