Governor Laura Kelly announced in a press conference on Saturday, March 28, 2020, she is issuing a statewide stay-at-home order to take effect on Monday, March 30, 2020, and last until at least April 19, 2020.
School operations are exempt from this order and Garden City Public Schools will continue to provide continuous learning to our students. The district will start to provide student instruction on Monday, March 30, 2020, as scheduled through our Continuous Learning plan.
The district will only have essential staff working at the school buildings during this time. All other staff members will work from home.
The district will continue to provide daily breakfasts and lunches for children 18 and under. These meals will be distributed from 10:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. at designated schools and at community locations at various times. Children must be present to pick up the meals. Teachers are continuing to make important contact with parents in regards to their child’s education. It is very important that the district is able to communicate with families during the rest of the school year while providing instruction through the continuous learning process.
The district will continue to provide information through the district’s social media accounts and at the website at www.gckschools.com.
