Garden City Police Department warning residents of door-to-door scammers

GARDEN CITY, Kan. — The Garden City Police Department is warning residents of a scam that’s going around the city.

The Police Department has received numerous calls of a male and a female going door-to-door acting as if they work for the Water Department and are wanting to go inside residences to test the water.

According to a release from the GCPD, the male is described as approximately 5’11” and is bald or has very short hair and was believed to be speaking Spanish. The female is described as roughly 5’6″ with dark brown or black medium-length hair. The GCPD said that both subjects were wearing a gray shirt with “Water Services” or “Water Association” on them.

They are asking residents to see their drivers license or social security cards to scan them. They were last seen driving a grey Dodge Charger.

If you have any more information regarding this scam you are asked to call the GCPD at 620-276-1300.
