Garden City offering new power outage app

Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The city of Garden City will now offer a new power outage app to assist during outages. The need for the app was realized after the winter storm on May 1, 2017.

During that storm the city and emergency responders were flooded with calls. So in an effort to reduce the amount of calls the app was created.

The app will alert people to power outages in the community. It will also pinpoint where the outages actually are, so people will be able to know the extent of the outage.

The app will also help the utilities department locate the outage and gives them an idea of what they need to do to fix the outage.
