Garden City man arrested in aggravated kidnapping case

Garden City, Kan.–A Garden City man was arrested in connection to an aggravated kidnapping early Wednesday morning.

According to the Garden City Police Department, Officers were dispatched to the north part of town for unknown problems, and when they arrived, Officers observed a vehicle in the roadway, just before 3 a.m.. They made contact with the driver who told Officers that an occupant inside the vehicle had been kidnapped at knifepoint by someone known to them.

The investigation revealed that the victim was being driven home when the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Augustin Beronvil, began following their vehicle. Beronvil then confronted the vehicle at an intersection and pulled out a pocketknife. The victim ran from the vehicle, but Beronvil grabbed them from behind, forced them into his vehicle and drove off. Officers quickly located Beronvil and the victim at his residence, and Beronvil was taken into custody.

Beronvil was lodged in the Finney County Jail for Aggravated Kidnapping, Aggravated Assault, and other violations.
