Garden City Man Arrested After Fleeing From Police

September 1st, 2021 (westernkansasnews) On September 1, 2021, at around 10:50 A.M., Officers of the Garden City Police Department attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Xavier Laurelez (25), Garden City, KS, who was wanted for prior felony charges. Laurelez fled in the vehicle and was unable to be apprehended at the time. Officers later located the vehicle in the 200 block of S. 3rd Street unoccupied.

Laurelez was later located at a residence in the 700 block of E. Spruce Street. Officers gave commands for Laurelez to exit the residence, but Laurelez refused to surrender. The Garden City S.W.A.T. Team and Kansas Highway Patrol responded to assist. Laurelez was taken into custody without further incident.

Laurelez was lodged in the Finney County Jail on the following charges:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Interference LEO (F) x 2
  • Flee and Elude (F)
  • Multiple Traffic Infractions
  • Duty of Driver Upon Accident
  • Failure to Provide Information at an Accident
