Garden City High School Students Make District Orchestra

The Garden City High School orchestra students had their recorded pieces judged for the Southwest/Northwest District Honor Orchestra on Saturday, November 2nd.  Twenty-nine of the 34 auditions that the school sent in were chosen to participate in this prestigious event. Students from all four of the GCHS orchestra classes are represented in the honor orchestra.  The GCHS orchestra students will travel to Fort Hays State University on Saturday, December 7th, to work on their music and perform a concert that day.  The concert will be held at 3:30 p.m. in Beach-Schmidt Auditorium on the Fort Hays State University campus. A free-will donation will be accepted at the door.

The GCHS students that received spots in the orchestra include: 1st Violin: Anna Diep, Dao Tang, Lizbeth Guevara, Ryan Larsen, and Hector Ramos.  2nd Violin: Anna Lozano, Abigail Ramos, Meliny Kingstone, Alondra Guzman, Bryanna Chavez, Biancca Valles, Luis Alcantara, Gaby Hernandez, and Vivian Le.  Viola: Noah Longoria, Thida Southavongsa, Rayenah Bergstrom, Laren Hunt, Cesar Alarcon, Zaza Boutdara, Cassidy Knoll, and Asia Briggs.  Cello: Oswaldo Mezquita, Andrea Moya, Sydney Nanninga, and Camelot Ferrera.  Bass: (1st chair) Jayson Resendiz, Makenna Metheny, and Eli Ulrich.

The GCHS orchestra director is Summer Miller; assistant orchestra director is Yee Kang.
