Garden City High School Students Make District Band

Garden City High School band students had their recorded auditions judged for the Southwest Kansas District Honor Band.  Nine students qualified to perform with the band.  The concert will be held at 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, December 7th, at Dodge City High School and is open to the public.  Admission to the concert is a free-will donation. 

The GCHS students that received spots in the band include: Melissa Fierrero, flute; Shelby Irsik, clarinet; Julia Irsik, bass clarinet; Reid Hopkins, contra clarinet; Ryan Wessels, trumpet; Caleb Tewell, horn; Orion Craig, trombone; Jeyson Sandoval, trombone; and Riley Metheny, euphonium.

Angel Resendiz has also been selected as an alternate in the percussion section.  Should another student not be able to complete their placement with the ensemble, Angel will be called to perform. 

The GCHS band director is Lyle Sobba; assistant director is Makenzi Johnson.
