Garden City Commission Grants Extension for Star Bond

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City Commission earlier this week approved a request for a one-year extension to Garden City’s STAR bond project. City Manager Matt Allen tells us more.

The STAR Bond covers an area of 312 acres. That includes Tangeman Sports Complex northeast of Schulman Crossing and undeveloped land spanning east of the shopping center to Jennie Barker Road. The commission got some help Tuesday night when Kansas legislators voted to override Gov. Sam Brownback’s veto of a tax bill that would repeal or roll back cuts to income tax.

The override included an extension to the STAR bond program for three years to July 1, 2020.
