Garden City Closes in on Selection For KDOT Shipping Hub
Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) It is not official, but it is a big step forward. KDOT has announced Garden City and Great Bend are two finalists for a regional shipping hub. Steve Swartz of KDOT says while their department has not guaranteed both cities will the facility, both Garden City and Great Bend presentations stood high above the rest and there’s a possibility both towns will get a shipping hub.
Officials with KDOT say they will request additional information before making a final selection. Lona DuVall President and CEO of the Finney County Economic Development Corporation on what this potentially means for Garden City.
The state will look at both plans and determine how much money they will add in completing the project. At the beginning, 111 sites applied for the hub facility.
