Garden City Chamber Board nominations closing in on deadline

Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) The Garden City Area Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting nominations for the 2018 Board of Directors. The Chamber Board is made up of 19 individuals who are responsible for formulating and reviewing various policies, proposed actions, programs and projects which serve in the best interest of the Chamber members and our community.

The Board sets policy, oversees the budget and helps guide the Chamber team as they work to provide connections, resources and solutions to help the region’s businesses prosper in Finney County’s growing economy.

An ideal candidate is someone that is a member or employed by an active member business in good standing with the Chamber. This person must also be willing to accept the responsibility of directorship.

Various duties and responsibilities include approving the annual budget, attending board meetings and other Chamber functions, and helping to broaden the financial resources of the organization. Candidates should also be enthusiastic and project a professional and positive image when representing the Chamber.

“The Chamber is a business organization funded primarily from membership investment from businesses and event sponsorship dollars,” says Mark Hinde, Chamber Board Chair, “The organization works independently on a local level and our Board of Directors are representatives of the business community providing leadership to insure a positive business environment in Finney County.”

Board Nominations are currently being accepted and may be emailed to Interim President Kathleen Whitley, at president@gardencitychamber.net.

The nomination deadline is Monday, October 9th at 5:00 p.m.

Following the nomination period, the Chamber will send a ballot to each Chamber member who can then submit their vote back to the Chamber. The incoming Board members will begin their term at the January, 2018 regular Chamber board meeting. For more information, contact the Chamber at 620-276-3264.
