Freda Ruth Ferrell was granted her Angel Wings on February 28, 2019, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Her family was gathered around her. She was the beloved wife of Lawrence Ferrell for 69 years.

Freda was born in Hereford, Texas, on March 10, 1932.  She was one of 12 children to the late Robert and Edna (Morrison) Burns.  Her family moved to Lakin, Kansas, when Freda was a child.  She was raised in Lakin through most of her adolescent years and then eventually met her darling Lawrence.

Freda was an incredible home maker.  She loved to paint, sew, and cook. Freda loved having family around whether it be for a cup of coffee or to enjoy holiday gatherings. Any chance to spend time with her family or friends was important to her. Freda’s laugh was so contagious and the love she had for her family was immeasurable.  She was a woman of great faith; she enjoyed teaching Catechism for many years at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church.

Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence A. Ferrell; son, Paul Ferrell; grandson, Darin Ferrell; parents, Robert and Edna Burns; brothers, Daniel Burns, Fred Burns, John Burns, Harold Burns, and Frank Burns; and sister, Bell Detwiller.
