Fred Lawrence Webster
Fred Lawrence Webster, 85, died January 29, 2017 at Trinity Manor in Dodge City. The oldest of eight children, he was born October 22, 1931 in Dodge City to Lawrence “Shorty” and Myra (Willis) Webster.
On June 22, 1951 he married Nora Garner in Tucumcari, New Mexico. She passed away on May 13, 2002 after 51 years of marriage. On April 7, 2013 he married Marietta Sorch. She survives.
Fred worked in the oil fields and for the Ford County Highway Department. He and Nora, with some of the family, ran a cleaning business in Dodge City, and he was a custodian at the First Baptist Church. Mr. Webster was also a deacon for many years and drove the church bus for the First Baptist Church in Dodge City. He was also a charter member of Grace Community Church.
Fred liked to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed wood working and making wicker furniture. He especially loved to spend time with his grandkids and his family.
Survivors include his wife Marietta of Dodge City; daughters Janice (David) Rumbaugh of Spearville, and Debi Perry of Lawrence; sons Doyce (Liza) Webster of Dodge City, Darrell (Helen) Webster of Ava, MO, Rod (Jenill) Webster of Dodge City; and step-sons Fred (Bernadine) Kuck of Mills, WY, Bill (Sondra) Brown of Dodge City, and Dave (Kandy) Brown of Oklahoma City, OK. Other survivors include sisters Alma Joann Fries of Dodge City, and Linda Trettenero of Loveland, CO; brothers Lawrence (Loneta) Webster of Hesperia, CA, Larry (Colleen) Webster of Wellsville, Donnie (Pauline) Webster of Harker Heights, TX, and Ronald (Mary) Webster of Madison, OH; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Nora, and sister Wanda Janet Webster.
Funeral service will be held at Grace Community Church on Friday February 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Kirk Larson presiding. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Thursday February 2, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
