Francis to Take Over as Dodge City Police Chief Next Year

Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)The Dodge City Police Department and city officials had the plan already in place and Friday they made it official.  City Manager Cherise Tieben has named Deputy Chief of Police Drew Francis as the successor to the current Police Chief Craig Mellecker.  Mellecker plans to retire next March. 

Francis began with the Dodge City Police Department in 2001.  He worked his way into the detective division in 2005, two years later Francis became a detective sergeant.  Francis in 2010 was appointed as a patrol sergeant and the following year as a lieutenant before becoming deputy chief in 2014.
