Fort Riley helicopter made precautionary landing south of Garden City
Garden City, KS(westernkansasnews.com) Shortly after 2 p.m. on Aug. 28, two Soldiers with the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, out of Fort Riley, Kansas, piloting an Apache helicopter during a training exercise made an precautionary landing in an open field about 14 miles south of Garden City. The helicopter landed safely and the pilots were not injured.
The Kansas Highway Patrol responded to the precautionary landing site and assisted with securing the area. Per Army protocols, the landing is under investigation.
