Fort Hays President: Proposed Merger Offers Opportunities
The talk started three years ago and now is in full swing as Dodge City Community College and Fort Hays State University look to officially join together.
New Fort Hays State President Dr. Mirta Martin knows the need exists to offer new opportunities for students at both campuses.
Martin explains for students at DCCC nothing changes except to allow another option after graduating in two years.
Officials at both schools are also looking to set up a technical institute provided they receive the necessary funding from the legislature of ten million dollars. Dr. Martin explains that the first step is to get ten companies to actively recruit students they want admitted into the program.
Martin believes by May they will know if the merger is full go or not.
