Former Holcomb assistant named new girls coach at Garden City High (Audio)

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-After nearly a three-month search, the USD 457 Board of Education approved the hire of former Holcomb girls assistant Matt Pfeifer as the new girls basketball coach at Garden City High School.
Pfeifer spent last season coaching the junior varsity squad at Holcomb under Nathan Novack.
He grew up in Finney County, graduating from Holcomb High School in 2010. After that, he moved onto Kansas State, where he graduated with a degree in secondary education.
Pfeifer, 23, was one of 30 applicants for the job. He replaces David Upton, who was fired back in March after nine seasons on the bench.
