Fern L. Kistler

Fern L. Kistler, age 97, of Johnson, Kansas, died Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson, Kansas. She was born June 16, 1921, in Lamar, Missouri, the daughter of Glenn A. and Nellie (Vincent) Wright.

Fern was a graduate of Manter High School in Manter. She lived in Manter and Ulysses before moving to Johnson in 2001. She worked a number of years at Big Ben jeans factory in Missouri and she and Francis operated a laundromat. Fern enjoyed fishing and spending time at the cabin in Grand Lake, going to garage sales and auctions.

On May 18, 1940, Fern married Francis W. Kistler in Syracuse, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 15, 2000.

Survivors include one brother; Cecil Wright of Greeley, Colorado, and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Fern is also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Lillian and Betty, three brothers; Ivan, Paul and Gayle.

Graveside service will be held Monday, April 15, 2019, at 2:00 PM at the Stanton County Cemetery, in Johnson, Kansas, with Revered Kurt Rovenstine officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 715, Johnson, Kansas 67855.
