Father Reggie: Anxiously Awaiting the Pope’s Message

Garden City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) Pope Francis is making his first visit to America.  Thursday he will make a speech to a joint session of Congress.  The Holy Father will make stops in Philadelphia and New York. Father Reggie Urban at St. Dominic Parish in Garden City is expecting to hear a message we all can share.

Pope Francis will have two objectives on his visit.

We may never know what happened behind closed doors. The Pope and President Obama spoke at the White House earlier this week about a variety of issues, ones that each man disagrees with including abortion and same sex marriage.

There were gay activists invited to the Pope’s reception dinner at the White House. Father Reggie Urban of St. Dominic Parish believes Pope Francis was able to articulate the Church’s stance all while striking the right tone.

Pope Francis continues his American trip today with a speech at the United Nations before offering prayers at Ground Zero.
