Expectations high for Scott City football team

Scott City, Kan. (westernkansasnews.com)–You can sense that the 2017 Scott City Beaver football team has a chip on their shoulder. For most schools, a 7-3 season is a great season. Not in Scott City. To add more fuel to their fire, it was the first time since the 2007 season that the Beavers had not won 10 games in a season.

The Beavers return six starters on both sides of the ball that lost to Holcomb two times and Hays High to begin the season. That includes All-GWAC performers Chase Cupp (1st Team OL), Marshal Faurot (HM Defensive Back, HM Punter), Wyatt Hayes (1st team RB, HM Defensive End), Jarret Jurgens (1st Team Kick Returner, HM RB), Nick Nowak (HM Linebacker), Kyle Sherood (HM Defensive End) and Baron Strine (HM OL)

The quarterback competition remains at two, with senior Adrian Ruelas and sophomore Parker Gooden taking the snaps.

This year’s schedule sees the Beavers facing off against the same teams, only in different locations. They start off the season at Hays, followed by a home date with Holcomb and at Cimarron.
