Evelyn “Sam” Scheer

Evelyn “Sam” Scheer, 59 of Garden City, Kansas died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at her home in Garden City. She was born October 17, 1954 in Ulysses, Kansas the daughter of Kenneth Roy & Naomi May (Moody) Tucker. 

Evelyn grew up in Johnson, Kansas where she attended school. She graduated from Stanton County High School in 1972. Evelyn lived in various places before moving to Garden City in 1987. She has lived in Garden City since. Evelyn worked as a Human Service Specialist for the Kansas Department of Family and Children in Garden City for 18 years. She enjoyed bowling, woodcarving, reading, the outdoors, and spending time with her family. 

Survivors include 3 daughters Sonja & husband Rick Torres of Wichita, Ks., Shannon & husband Kelly England of Wichita, Ks., and Shannon & husband Adam Irsik of Garden City, Ks.; a son Shawn McKee of Seattle, Wa.; 2 brothers Ken Tucker of Lawrence, Ks. and Steve Tucker of Canada; a sister De Dean of Nevada; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. 

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 09, 2014 at the Word of Life Church in Garden City with Pastor Mary Younger officiating.

Interment: A private family interment will take place at a later date. 

The family requests memorials given to the Central Care Cancer Center in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
