Evelyn Genesse Davis

Evelyn Genesse Davis, 98, died August 31, 2015 at Dodge City. She was born on October 28, 1916 at Imperial , Nebraska the daughter of Louie and Bertha (Walker) Grotzky. 

Evelyn moved with her family to Syracuse when she was four. They later moved to Dodge City where she attended school and graduated from Dodge City High School with honors. She married Homer A Davis on November 3, 1935 in Dodge City. He preceded her in death on November 12, 1987. Evelyn and Homer enjoyed traveling and she traveled to 27 countries. 

She was a member of the First Christian Church and Christian Church Keenagers both of Dodge City, Past president and fifty year member of D.I.Y. Club, Chairman of the Ladies Methodist Circle, Social Order of Beaucent all of Dodge City. 

Evelyn is survived by two daughters, Carole Franz and husband Norman of Dodge City, and Sondra Marconnette of Palmdale, California; grandchildren, Sonya and Keith Harris, Rhonda and Conrad King, Kevin Franz, Vincent Marconnette, and Michelle and Kevin Bender; great grandchildren, Jesse and Kristina Harris, Heather Harris, Dillon King, Dalton and Taryn King, Cody and Stephanie King, Chelsey King, Bradley Bender, Melody Bender, Bailey Bender, and Lauren Bender; great great grandchildren, Keith Nagel, Colt Nagel, Asher Harris, Adalyn Harris, and Sadie Lee King; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Leona Philbrick and Audrey Morris; and one brother, Virgil Grotzky. 

Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, September 4, 2015 from Noon to 8:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
