Esther K. Munyon, age 64, died Friday, February 28, 2014 at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. She was born January 3, 1950 at Crooked Creek, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Norman & Doris (Bronson) Eidse. Esther married to F.L. “Doc” Munyon on September 10, 1994 at Garden City.

Esther grew up in Crooked Creek, Alberta, Canada. She attended Nursing School at Dodge City Community College and Fort Hays State University. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Moundridge, the Bethel Home in Montezuma, Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses and for 10 years at St Catherine Hospital in Garden City. In 1996 she became a Nursing Instructor at Garden City Community College and was named Instructor of the year in 2000. During this time she received her Master’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of Kansas. In 2001 she went to work at Area Mental Health for 6 years and worked to obtain her Psychologist Nurse Practitioner Certification from the University Of Kansas. For 10 years she ran the EKM Family Center in Garden City working as a Psychologist. Esther was a workaholic attending to her clients needs and also enjoyed reading and word puzzles. Esther was a member of the Bible Christian Church of Garden City.

Survivors include her husband, F.L. “Doc” Munyon of their home; 2 daughters, Debra K. King of Oklahoma City, OK, Norma Darlene Hight of Welling, OK; Son, Duane F. Munyon of Wichita; mother, Doris Eidse of Crooked Creek, Alberta; 2 brothers, Louis Eidse of Georgia, Denver Eidse of Alberta, Canada; 3 sisters, Phyllis, Rosalee, and Linda, all of Alberta, Canada; 8 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.

Memorial Service: 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 08, 2014 at Bible Christian Church in Garden City.
Memorials may be given to the University Of Kansas Psychology Department or APRN Task Force in care of Garnand Funeral Home.
