Estes: Farmers Focus of Proposed Water Conservation Plan
Dodge City, KS (westernkansasnews.com) It would be a new way of conserving water in Kansas and the plan is in the research stages. Instead of mandating farmers use less water, State Representative Bud Estes has an idea of providing the right inducement to help farmers along.
From what farmers lose by using less water they can gain back in other ways and address the need to conserve water resources. The plan is being looked at by the state and departmental officials at KU and K-State. There are a lot of groups Estes needs to convince including the farmers themselves.
Estes wanted to complement what had already been done in devising the Governor‘s Fifty Year vision for water.
