Garden City, KS (Western Kansas News) – Garden City Community College Men’s Basketball player Emmanuel Manyuon signed with the University of the Pacific Tigers earlier today in an event attended by the GCCC basketball coaching staff, the entire men’s basketball team, and athletic administrative staff.

“I just got to say shout out to everyone who’s here, I love all y’all…” said Manyuon, a 6’3″ 185-pound sophomore hailing from Austin, MN who transferred to Garden City after a stint with Cloud County Community College.

“Win, lose, or draw man, this is what it’s all about,” noted GCCC head coach Isaiah Tisdale. “It’s all about getting to that next level, playing at a four-year institution, and [having] it all paid for.” Coach Tisdale emphasized the importance of not only athletic but academic excellence as well, “Get that degree from here [Garden City] and get the degree from a four-year institution.”

Manyuon noted that it was his coaches and teammates that kept Garden City exciting for him. His father, Wilson Chawul, who was also in attendance, thanked the college saying, “I thank everybody that’s here, coach, and the school in general. Thank you for pushing him to where he is right now.”

Manyuon, who is averaging 8.5 points per game and shooting 48.6% from the floor, 45% from behind the arc, and 50% from the charity stripe so far this season for the Broncbusters said that his decision to commit early to Pacific, rather than waiting until later in the year was an easy one, “I didn’t originally plan on committing early, but like, you know, when I got on campus, and I really saw what their program was about I was like, ‘There’s no use in waiting when something like that’s for me.'” Through a smile, Manyoun reiterates, “Again, it’s like, if you know, you know. Know what I mean?”

The Tigers went 6-26 in their 2023-24 campaign and 0-16 in West Coast Conference play. Through their first six games this basketball season, the Tigers are 3-3 with wins against Jessup, San Jose State, and Life Pacific, and losses against Hawaii, Northern Arizona, and #18 Arkansas. The Pacific Tigers will take on the Missouri Tigers on Friday as non-conference play continues for the mid-major program.

Manyoun is one of three early signees for the 2025-26 season for Pacific, joining 6’7″ high school senior forward Kellen Hampton and 6’3″ guard Alem Fejzic who is currently playing his freshman season at Frank Phillips College.

“Emmanuel is exactly the type of player we want in our program. He makes so many winning plays it becomes contagious to everyone around him. He will make an immediate impact on our program,” Pacific head man Dave Smart said in a press release issued by the university earlier this morning on the trio of signees. “His ability to impact the game in so many ways will take us to another level.”

Manyoun and the Broncbusters will see continued KJCCC action on Saturday at 4p in a matchup with #1 Barton Community College at Conestoga Arena. The Broncbuster double header will be broadcast live on the radio on 99.9 The Rock and via stream on the Southwest Kansas Sports Network.
