Emily Kayte Bremenkamp

Emily Kayte Bremenkamp, 15, of Liberal, died Monday, February 23, 2015, at Children’s Mercy Hospital, in Kansas City, MO. 

She was born January 7, 2000, at Hays, KS, the daughter of Jerry Raymond and Michelle Renee (Smith) Bremenkamp. 

She attended McArthur Elementary, Cottonwood Intermediate and West Middle Schools. Emily was currently a freshman at Liberal High School. 

She was a very talented member of “That” Liberal Band, playing the trumpet. She had been a member of the National Junior Honor Society. She was a straight “A” student, always up to the challenge of taking Honors and AP (Advanced Placement) classes. She was active in Wide-A-Wake 4-H Club for 8 years – 3 years serving as Secretary, 2 years as Recreation Leader, and 3 years as President. She did cooking, quilting, photography, arts and crafts, archery and B-B guns. She was an avid bowler. Emily was in youth bowling leagues and she participated in Pepsi Youth Tournaments throughout the state. She loved to read, loved to swim, and loved her Bassett-Hound, “Maggie”. Emily truly believed that life should be lived by The Golden Rule. She excelled in anything that she had a passion for.

Her Parents: Jerry and Michelle Bremenkamp, of Liberal; Brother: Cody Rolan Bremenkamp, of Liberal; Grandparents: Orvil and Phyllis Smith, of Liberal; Betty Ann Bremenkamp, of Scott City, KS Great-Grandmothers: Evelyn Wheatcroft, of Liberal, Willma Baker, of Scott City, KS; Rosetta Bremenkamp, of Colby, KS Aunt: Anita Rose and husband Clenton Uncle: Alan Smith and wife Danine 3 Cousins: Chelsie Rose, Joseph and Frank Gasperini 

She was preceded in death by her Grandfather, Raymond Bremenkamp; and her Great-Grandfather, Glen Wheatcroft 

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at First Southern Baptist Church, located at 7th and Western, with Pastor Jack Jacob officiating. Burial will follow in Liberal Cemetery. 

Visitation time will be 1-8 p.m. Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 p.m. to greet friends. During the visitation, family and friends will be encouraged to share their thoughts or memories in writing by signing Emily’s closed casket. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Contributions be made to “That” Liberal Band or Southwest Miracles, in care of Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd St., Liberal, KS 67901.
