Elvira L. Billinger, 86, died Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Park Lane Nursing Home in Scott City, Kansas. She was born March 5, 1930 in Ness City, Kansas the daughter of Joseph & Katherine (Dechant) Rupp.
Elvira moved with her family to Holcomb when she was a child. She attended Holcomb schools and graduated from Holcomb High School in 1948. On September 28, 1948 she married Albert A. Billinger in Garden City, Kansas. Elvira has lived in Garden City and Scott City since the time of her marriage. She worked in nursing at St. Catherine Hospital. She then worked for Dr. Gilbert at Garden Medical Clinic for 18 years. Elvira was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, and the Eagle’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed quilting, dancing, bowling, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.  
Survivors include five sons Jerome (Janie) Billinger of Lenoir, NC, Donald Billinger of Canon City, CO, Duane (Susan) Billinger of Wichita, KS, Gerard (Margaret) Billinger of Big Lake, AK, and Benny (Dalana) Billinger of Garden City; three daughters Cheryl (Bill) Mouser of Salina, KS, Connie Bonwell of Garden City, KS, and Cynthia (Erik) Prince of Wichita, KS; a sister Rita Riebel of Minneola, KS; companion Edwin Allen of Scott City, KS; 17 Grandchildren; 20 Great-Grandchildren; and 3 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Elvira is preceded in death by her husband Albert who died on March 4, 1996. She is also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers John Rupp, Mike Rupp, Paul Rupp, Frank Rupp, and Adam Rupp; four sisters Katherine Zimmerman, Pauline Kaiser, Mary Eggers, and Julia Stoecklein; and a Grandchild William David Mouser.
Vigil Service and Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at St. Dominic Catholic Church in Garden City. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2017 also at St. Dominic Catholic Church with Fr. Reginald A. Urban and Fr. Bernard Felix presiding. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City. There will be no calling hours. The family request memorials given to Park Lane Nursing Home or to St. Catherine Hospice both in care of Garnand Funeral Home of Garden City.
