Elliott and Jurgens shine in Shrine Bowl
Pittsburg, KS-Garden City’s Demarcus Elliott was the most dominant force in 6A football in 2017. Scott City’s Jarret Jurgens was not even invited to the game until late March. Yet both highlighted the 45th annual Kansas Shrine Bowl on Saturday.
Elliott, who will play for Jeff Sims at Garden City Community College this fall, had six tackles for the West squad, while Jurgens produced a game-high 54 yards rushing. He also scored the West’s first touchdown after the East rolled out to a 21-0 advantage. Jurgens has already signed to wrestle at Hastings College.
The East won the game 21-14.
