Elite start season off right; sweep Ulysses
Ulysses, KS (westernkansasnews.com)-Ryder Yakel hasn’t had much time off.
Following a run to the 3A state semifinals during spring baseball where he finished 11-1 with a 1.32 earned run average, Yakel made his triumphant debut on the bump for the Garden City Wind on Wednesday night. No rest for the weary.
Yakel didn’t need rest in helping the Garden City Elite beat Ulysses 9-1 in eight innings.
“He (Yakel) had his command,” Head Coach Lyle Befort said afterwards. “He threw the ball very hard and was in command the entire night.”
The Elite finished off the sweep with a 6-3 victory in game two.
Garden City is off until June 12 where they will play in the Ulysses tournament.
