Eisenhower Park Mural – Call for Artist

city of dodge city

City of Dodge City

DODGE CITY, Kansas—The City of Dodge City was recently awarded a grant from the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission, Strategic Investment Program, for New & Expanded Works to commission a mural at Eisenhower Park. The mural will finalize the renovation project of the park in Downtown Dodge City.

A Call for Artists –The Request for Proposals was recently published to begin the process of finding the artist that will bring the mural to life.  The City of Dodge City seeks to have the mural embody the name of the park and also the culture and heritage of the past and present story of Dodge City.  Eisenhower Park plays a significant role in events hosted in the downtown area and visited by thousands of tourists and locals year-round.  The addition of the mural will give locals and visitors one more reason to visit downtown.

The ideal candidate must possess personal expertise to complete the project or be part of a team with the know-how to see the project to completion.

A selection panel will review the submission, and the top proposals will be invited to interview.  The panel will include community members representing the City of Dodge City, Main Street Dodge City, Convention and Visitors Bureau, Public Art Commission, and Dodge City stakeholders.

The application period is August 31st-September 23rd.  All submissions are due September 23rd, 2020, at 12:00 PM CST.  The award announcement will be October 2nd, 2020.
