Eileen Gilchrist

Eileen Gilchrist, 84, died March 28, 2016 at her home in Sublette. She was born on May 10, 1931 on the family farm near Mullinville, the daughter of Orville and Hattie (Kilgore) Ochs.

Eileen moved with her family to Haskell County when she was six. She attended the Santa Fe School. On November 9, 1947, she married Don Gilchrist. They celebrated 68 years of marriage this past November. Eileen and Don made their home in Sublette where they raised their three children. She enjoyed sewing and all kinds of craft projects. Eileen will also be remembered for her mentoring and willingness to help those in need.

She was a member of the Sublette Christian Church.

In addition to her husband, Don, Eileen is survived by a son, Ronnie Gilchrist and wife Karen of Tomball, Texas; two daughters, Kathy Lassmann and husband Fred of Augusta and Treena Mason and husband Ron of Lawrence; her twin brother, Eugene Ochs and wife Terri of Sublette; one sister, Dorothy Spear of Valley Center; six grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Archie and Kenneth Ochs

Funeral service will be held at Sublette Christian Church on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10:30 AM with Pastor Ryan Riley and Mr. Jery Bailey presiding. Burial will follow at Haskell County Cemetery in Sublette. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel, Sublette on Thursday, March 31, 2016 from noon to 8:00 PM.
